Q & A with Franciska from the Francisca Show Podcast

When did you start podcasting?

I started my podcast over four years ago.

What made you think about starting a podcast?

As an indie Jewish Orthodox female singer/composer, I had little to no market for my music.

What’s the name of your show and what is it about?

My podcast is called The Franciska Show. I started it as a platform to interview other women in the Jewish Orthodox arts and entertainment scene. I have learned so much. Over the last two years, I broadened my topics to give a voice to so many taboo issues in the Jewish Orthodox community.

What’s your podcast set-up?

I use the ATR2100, the USB connection (I know it’s not as ideal as XLR) to my Mac.

I record my interviews via ZOOM and I edit in descript. I’m always trying out new mics, software programs and plugins. So ask me in a month, I might be back on LogicPro.

How have you promoted your podcast?

I promote my podcast wherever I go, and of course, all over social media.

Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Whatsapp, TikTok, YouTube and I just joined Twitter this week. Groups and Emails are phenomenal, too.

I create clips, video and audiograms, as well as play with reels, stories and long written posts to spread the word.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

When I started out, I just promoted on IG and FB. When you’re at the beginning, choose 1 or 2 platforms and stay consistent.

Remember, podcasting is your primary platform of content.

I know now that when there is passion and commitment, the podcast allows for the magic to do its thing.

Lacking even one of these is cause to reevaluate, maybe consider a relaunch or a pivot.

That’s what I did. And it’s okay.

As a Jewish Orthodox singer and songwriter, Franciska Kosman knew she was a niche entertainer. She saw an opportunity to not just broaden her audience, but to interact with others in the same niche. She started the Franciska Show and now she also gives needed voice to Jewish Orthodox cultural taboos. Curious? Take a listen  on Apple Podcasts or Spotify now!
