Q & A with Matt from And Now We Drink
When did you start podcasting?
I started podcasting in March of 2016 with the original version of And Now We Drink titled 288 Podcast at the time.
Why did you start podcasting?
My primary job was being a private investigator and I spent hours listening to podcasts while at work.
Previously I had experience working as a production assistant and in the music industry. I felt I had a lot to say and knew a lot of fun guests.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
And Now We Drink. It’s a long form conversation comedy interview show. The guests and I have some or sometimes a lot of drinks and talk about anything from music to travel to their sex lives.
The feeling I always try to go for is this could be a conversation the audience overheard at the end of the bar.
What’s your podcasting set-up?
Pre-pandemic when I was doing in person recording the in-studio set up is Shure SM7Bs, Simply Sound SS1, Zoom Live Trak 12. Four Canon HRF 800s for video.
During the Pandemic, I’ve been using Zoom, The Live track 12. A RODE NTG 4+ and a canon T8I for my video.
I use Reaper as my DAW. In addition I run Izotope RX7 advanced and Nectar 3 as part of my post production.
How have you promoted your podcast?
I’ve guested on any show that will have me no matter how big or small.
I also cut video clips of the podcast and publish them to YouTube regularly.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
So much! A lot of it is technical things like proper EQ techniques and which plugins produce the best results.
That not every guest is going to be a home run and that’s OK. I had no clue how much hard drive space I was going to need.
