Q & A with Janice from The Traveling Introvert
When did you start podcasting?
I remember the date! It would be Jun 13, 2017. Funnily enough, before that I hadn’t even listened to a podcast before starting my own.
Why did you start podcasting?
I had just gotten rid of a client that had been sucking the life out of me and I wanted to do something different. Such as getting information and stories out there about business, human resources, traveling and introversion, so that other people won’t make the same mistakes.
This has now evolved into a bigger brand that supports introverts in building their careers and brands.
What’s the name of your show and what is it about?
The name of my show is The Traveling Introvert – 5 mins every Tuesday of me ranting about something related to travel, business, being an introvert or all three.
The idea behind it originally was to tell some travel and human resources stories and to keep my friends updated with what I was doing, as I travel about 9 months of the year.
Now it has evolved a bit as I want other introverts to know that they are not alone and there are so many things they can do and that there is no one way to do things.
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
My set-up is fairly easy due to it being a solo show.
The earbuds that I use with my phone and my computer are the only hardware I have. I do occasionally use a Lavalier mic.
For software, I use Auphonic, Otter AI, Canva and Facebook Creator Studio.
How have you promoted your podcast?
So many different ways from creating a book to having a canvas bag made that I travel with.
I now point my clients to certain episodes to help answer their questions.
Guesting on other podcasts has been helpful as well as speaking at events.
Social media of course but having said that, my podcast does not have its own Instagram or Twitter. So, find me on Facebook!
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
