Q & A with Stelios from Ceres PFI Podcast

When did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting in November 2018, we started preparations in May 2018.

Why did you start podcasting?

Our core business is creating food ingredients for hotels, restaurants, fish and chip shops and pubs, so the podcast is not a profit maker, for us it is a way to inform and delight listeners.

A way to truly learn something from guests who have had challenges in this sector.

We have a YouTube channel, but we wanted to get into long form discussions with great people without having a camera in their face.

We noticed that people that watch the YouTube channel had a limited time to sit and relax whilst watching, as I listen to a lot of podcasts it made perfect sense to move to this medium.

What’s the name of your show about and what is it about?

We are called the Ceres PFI Podcast or Ceres Podcast, we are a UK based company and we will be talking to anyone interesting in the food and hospitality industry.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

As me and Tom (production and technical) started doing some research early on before starting the podcast we went through all the pros and cons, we wanted to make sure nothing sounded poor as with a podcast we both believed the quality needs to be great before people listen to the content.

We use the following gear:

  • Behringer HA400 Microamp 4 Channel Stereo Headphone Amplifier
  • Audio-Technica ATH-M30X Professional Headphones
  • RØDE NT1-A Mics
  • Behringer UMC404HD Audio Interface
  • MacBook Pro
  • Logic Pro X

How have you promoted your podcast?

At the moment we have just promoted in the traditional way, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. We will be doing more of the above in 2019 but we really want it to be gradual growth to build a stable strong platform base.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

I wish I did more research about getting it on the right platforms, but it is still early days. We learn every day, so I can always implement any changes if I need too.
