Q & A with Lindsey from Ghost Press

When did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting almost 2 years ago with the show Talking Hoosier History, which is about the history of Indiana. It was actually through THH that I came up with the idea for Ghost Press.

Our Halloween episode in 2017 was a collection of ghost stories from Indiana newspapers and I had so much fun with that that I wanted to do more!

Why did you start podcasting?

I actually was lucky enough to be tasked with starting the podcast for my job with the Indiana Historical Bureau. I was by far the biggest podcast fan in the office so I was delighted when my boss assigned me with making the show.

What’s the name of your show about and what is it about?

My new show is called Ghost Press and every other week, we’re breathing new life into old ghost stories.

We find awesome ghost stories in 18th and 19th newspapers and tell them in a very Vincent Price-esc way.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

Jill Weiss Simins, who is our awesome sound engineer uses an Electro-voice RE 20 mic with a cloudlifter, recorded with a Tascam DR–40. She uses Adobe Audition to mix.

How have you promoted your podcast?

I’ve guested on a few other paranormal podcasts and have a few really exciting interviews that we’ll be announcing really soon!

I started our twitter about 8 months before we released our first episode and have been fairly active on it ever since.

We’re looking into some other avenues but right now, we’re relying on social media and word of mouth!

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

How busy my life was going to get! In the weeks before and after our release date, both me and my producer Jill Weiss Simins got really busy with our full time jobs, as well as with our personal lives.

Luckily, we had several episodes in the bag already so we had some wiggle room but that’s gone now!

We’re caught up with ourselves. So, I guess I wish we had gotten a bit further ahead in writing and recording so we could take it nice and slow now.
