Q & A with Rose of The Golden Hour

When did you start podcasting?

My sister and I published our first podcast on June 26th.

Why did you start podcasting?

My sister, Suzi (aka @gurlgonegreen) used to have her own podcast, but life became too full after the birth of her second child.

Fast forward almost two years, and my sister was ready to start podcasting again, she asked if I wanted to cohost a new show with her and I said, “yes”.

Both of us have been in the health and wellness space for the past five years. I’ve been writing and marketing for Naturopathic Doctors and my sister has been growing her green beauty and lifestyle blog at GurlGoneGreen.com. Our brother and sister-in-law are also Naturopathic Doctors so we’ve definitely been entrenched in holistic health and wouldn’t have it any other way.

During this time, we’ve had some epic lightbulb moments and encountered some amazing health experts that we just couldn’t keep to ourselves. Our mission with The Golden Hour podcast is to deliver golden health nuggets to the everyday woman. We break down daunting health topics and provide clear takeaways to fuel extraordinary health.

And it’s just icing on our proverbial cake to have the opportunity to interview some of our favorite health and wellness experts!

What’s your show about?

The Golden Hour podcast brings together experts in all areas of health and wellness to share practical tips for living your best life.

We decided on the name, The Golden Hour, because as an emergency medical term, it refers to a window of time after a traumatic injury during which there is the greatest chance that prompt medical treatment will prevent death. Photographers refer to The Golden Hour as a period of time after sunrise or before sunset that creates magical light producing the best pictures.

Our hope is that during The Golden Hour podcast, you will be inspired to take action in your health and create your own kind of magic!

What’s your podcasting set-up?

We record the interviews via Skype using the Ecamm Call Recorder and Blue Snowball mics. We use the Adobe Audition for editing and Libsyn for hosting!

How have you promoted your podcast?

We promote via Instagram (posts and stories), Facebook, and my sister also sends emails to her GurlGoneGreen subscriber list.

We also encourage our guests to share the podcast. We try to make it as convenient as possible for them to share, by sending them the link to the podcast episode and a graphic that they can use on social media.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

We’ve learned that it’s all about progress over perfection.

On a practical note, listen to the recording of your first episode before recording the next one. This may seem obvious, but because there were no issues during the first interview we just moved on to the second interview without listening to the first episode and regretfully had sound quality issues on both episodes.
