Q & A’s with Scott from Stoic Mettle

When did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting in late November 2016

Why did you start podcasting?

I started my podcast because I was looking for a show about a specific topic and there wasn’t anything current where the hosts were keeping up with how they said they would produce the show.

What’s your show about?

Stoic Mettle is about the philosophy of Stoicism and how we can use Stoicism in our everyday lives.

Each week I use stories from my own life to show listeners how I’m actively applying an ancient philosophy

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

I currently use an Audio-Technica ATR 2100-USB mic with a foam cover. I use Audacity for recording solo shows and Pamela for recording Skype Interviews

How have you promoted your podcast?

Each week I post on the Stoicism subreddit on Reddit. I also post my show to 3 Stoicism Facebook groups.

I was also granted access to a new Audiogram app that is in development which lets me create an image with a waveform that syncs with a clip from my show to put out on Instagram and Facebook, it has been a useful tool.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

It was something I found out before I started my show which was, “if you’re looking for a show and it doesn’t exist yet that means it’s your opportunity to create the show you want to hear.”
