Q & A’s with Richard and Shawn from The Language of Bromance
When did you start podcasting?
Richard and Shawn Released their first Episode on June 21st 2014 released Episode 00 Did we just become friends.
Since then the guys have released an Episode every Sunday for 127 Straight weeks.
Why did you start podcasting?
Richard and Shawn had been friends for close to 10 years. They had loved podcasts like Kevin Smith’s Smodcast and talked about starting their own podcast back in 2007.
Playing ping pong with the idea it would come up but quickly go away.
Finally after Shawn Moved away the two began to see less and less of each other. One day Richard and Shawn were going to meet and play D&D with some friends.
Richard had to work late so he didn’t show up till about 10 minutes before Shawn Left. On the ride home Shawn called Richard and said this is stupid that we don’t talk enough so they decided on the phone they were starting a Podcast.
Less than a month after the phone call the two recorded the first show and haven’t stopped since.
What’s your show about?
The Language of Bromance is a show about two guys who have a genuine bromance for each other.
It is a great excuse to make each other laugh and create silly stories. Most shows are a improv style building a universe around a story in the news or a story from history.
Every episode that ends in a 3 or 8 the guys will do a draft episode on topics like heroes, movies, or other topics.
This is where a topic is picked and over 7 rounds NFL style the guys flip flop picks and pick a different item based on the topic.
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
Richard uses a Shure mic. Shawn uses an Audix. Using Skype the guys use Call Recorder as a backup option and the primary audio is recorded locally by each person on a H4N Recorder.
To edit the audio the guys utilize Garageband and sync up the two different audio files.
For the website Language of Bromance use wordpress and Appendipity Theme. Hosting is provided by Libsyn.
How have you promoted your podcast?
Language of Bromance uses Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit to help promote the show.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
That anyone can truly do a podcast.
For years we talked about doing a show but talked ourselves out of it because no one would care about our show. Not doing this would have helped us start our show sooner.
