Q & A with Larry from Accidentally The Whole Tip

When did you start podcasting?

I started in August of 2015

Why did you start podcasting?

I wanted a platform to discuss whatever topics interested me in a manner that best fit my personality.

This combination isn’t appropriate for many environments, but a podcast seemed like a perfect fit. So, after a few voice acting classes and seminars as well as a professional commercial
V/O demo, I decided to put V/O on hold and take the podcasting route instead.

What’s your show about?

We are a professionally produced, banter style podcast that gives you more than just the tip.

Larry Roberts and JJ Dodd, along with various co-hosts and guests bring you the best of conversations regarding relevant subjects with an irreverent approach.

All of our topics may not be newsworthy, but they are always fun!

What’s your podcasting set-up?

Hardware:
* Heil PR–40
* 2 Audio Technica ATR2100 Guest Mics
* ProFX 12v2 12 Channel Mixer
* Behringer 4 Channel Headphone Amplifier
* Behringer Multicom PRO-XL MDX4600
* Roland R–05 Digital Audio Recorder
* Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones
* 2 Sony MDR7506 Guest Headphones

Software:
* Audacity
* Currently using Appendipity WordPress plugin/template, but it’s cumbersome and I’m in need of a more efficient solution.

How have you promoted your podcast?

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Reddit
  • Message Boards
  • Other Podcasts
  • Guests with a built in, but niche following.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

One of the biggest lessons I learned was marketing and actually finding my identity. I believe I split my audience by joining a Dallas/Ft. Worth online radio station with the show, as well as establishing the show live at a small local club which eventually lead to
a comedy night for the club.

Each iteration of the show was fun and I learned a lot, but once I focused my efforts on the podcast and joined several podcast networks, I’ve seen my numbers grow at an exceptional rate for an unknown wanna be funny guy.

In case you wanna commit to more than just the tip, this is your podcast! Give it a go and subscribe!
