Q & A with Nick and Kari from Nerd, Flix and Chill
When did you start podcasting?
We started in May of 2016, but had been planning on starting this podcast for the past year.
Why did you start podcasting?
We both love listening to podcasts, but we believed that there was a place for our voice in the greater conversation of film and television.
I also believe that we provide a unique perspective on many of these topics.
We are not afraid of sharing our opinions; even if they are unpopular ones.
The basic idea is taking conversations that you might have with your friends over pizza and beer, and turn that into a podcast.
What’s your show about?
In Nerd Flix and Chill we discuss a variety of topics revolving around film and television.
We do film reviews, television episode recaps, and a series called “Genre-ly Speaking” which is a topic driven conversation, for example “What to Watch Right Now.”
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
We have a pretty bare bones set up/ QU2 Mics, Audacity for editing, Evaer, Skype. Pond5 for music, etc
How have you promoted your podcast?
Reddit has been a great way for us to drive listeners as well. We also created a website to consolidate traffic.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
We record from separate locations, and initially we recorded in Evaer and imported the file into audacity, rather than both of us record in audacity. It caused our earlier episodes to lack the sound quality of our recent episodes. Also, building a soundproofing box does wonders for your voice pitch. 🙂
Want a refreshingly different conversation around film and television? Here’s your podcast! It’s time to subscribe to Nerd Flix and Chill!
If you’ve been feeling like you need to discuss something about a topic that isn’t being addressed, why not start a podcast? We would love to support your decision to share your voice in the world, we’d love to host your podcast!
