Q & A with Barry from #cinematiclivesmatter

When did you start podcasting?

I started recording March 1, 2016. I spent about 2 months researching podcasts and “do wells” and “do differentlys” from other podcasters on blogs and YouTube channels before a peer finally told me to just jump in and I’ll figure it out as I go – he was right.

Why did you start podcasting?

I have a YouTube channel with 240,000 subscribers.

My content is scripted and I typically leave my personal feelings out of my de facto movie reviews. The podcast allows me to share my opinions and connect with my audience on a more personal level.

Also, I love to talk!

What’s your show about?

#cinematiclivesmatter is a bridge between hardcore movie buffs like myself and average moviegoers (people who’ve never read the books, comics, replayed the trailers over and over before the film came out, or obsess over movies).

I discuss film with my cohost and together we try and find common likes and dislikes about movies to provide a POV from a movie fanatic and “regular people”.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

We use two Electro Voice RE20 (Dynamic Broadcast Mics), an M-Audio M-Track Quad, a Macbook, and record into Adobe Audition.

How have you promoted your podcast?

StumbleUpon, Pinterest, my Facebook fan page, Google+, Twitter, Reddit, and a majority of my audience comes my YouTube channel – every Sunday I release a clip of the best moments from Friday’s podcast and direct my subscribers to my website, iTunes, Stitcher, etc. to find the entire episode.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

I wish I would’ve launched my episodes day 1.

I sat and researched too much and it cost me New and Noteworthy status.  My numbers have been balanced since my launch, but I left some meat on the bone by dragging my feet and not posting episodes directly after my launch.

It’s time to catch up on our love of film! Are you ready to step into the Couch Tomato by subscribing to #cinematiclivesmatter because you know they totally do!
