Q & A with Matt Neff from the 99 Lives Podcast
When did you start podcasting?
We posted our first show Jan. 15th, 2015
Why did you start podcasting?
I was on the road a lot for my job so podcasts were an amazing way to stimulate my mind and keep me from falling asleep at the wheel.
I also felt such a connection with the hosts and guests as well.
They didn’t know me but I felt like I knew them. I loved the power of it as well, to bring people together.
My friend and I wanted to start a show for about two years but he was in Montana and I was in Ohio. Once his family moved last year we knew we had to make it happen!
I also enjoy journaling and realized that our show is like an audio journal that captures the moments, the sound of our laughs and what we think is interesting at this point in our lives.
It’s an auditory snapshot much like a time capsule. Where my kids and grands kids could one day and go back and listen to. It’s all about celebrating lives hence the name 99 Lives. Very powerful stuff!
What’s your show about?
Our show is mostly interview based because we love to hear people’s stories of where they came from.
We discuss things like movie, music, and of course video games.
We also try to collect impressions from our guests and us as well and add them to the show list. We’ll also have a Top 10 list from time to time about cereal, cartoons etc. we are more of a dessert podcast meaning it’s more entertaining and fun than an in depth style TED talk feel.
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
For our setup I use a 2010 MacBook Pro, Logic Express, the mics we use are and ATM–710, AKG C–1000 and an AE–3300.
For hardware interface we use a rack style DIGI 002.
How have you promoted your podcast?
Lastly for promotion we try to be active through Instagram, Twitter, our website, iTunes our Facebook Show Page and Stitcher.
