Q & A with Jonathan from Donald Trump Is A Moron

When did you start podcasting?

I wanted to do a tech podcast so bad it hurt back in 2011 and thought it was the simplest thing in the world to simply bust out my laptop and record my random thoughts through the computers mic.

I believe it’s still on iTunes, a podcast called “battery operated” which stands today as the worst audio recording I have every heard in a podcast. It’s so brilliantly bad I can’t stand it!

Why did you start podcasting?

I like getting my thoughts out to an audience, feeling like I can be heard, make a difference in some small way.

I heard you can make money with them true. My accountant tells me at the pace I’m going I’ll be dead before I make a penny! It’s not about money though, I truly enjoy the experience.

What’s your show about?

It’s an unbelievably short 2–5 minute almost daily podcast.

The title kind of gives it away “Donald Trump is a Moron” but only a little bit.

The show is about the US becoming angrier and more racist/sexist than ever.

It’s more about People who THINK like Donald Trump and the terrifying consequences of a nation that follows in those particular footsteps.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

I am lucky enough to be able to afford a halfway decent setup.

I run the new 27” iMac with Adobe Audition carrying the editing load. Audio Hijack let’s me “borrow” brief audio clips from a bunch of sources and, believe it or not, any music put into these podcasts are done on my iPad Pro in garage band.

I use Apple loops to avoid any copywrite issues. I run a Sterling audio ST51 condenser mic through an Allen & Heath soundboard (I like physical hardware for some things) into the computer via USB.

How have you promoted your podcast?

I’m currently working hard to promote my podcast(s) in all of the most difficult ways imaginable! Mostly Facebook, twitter and telling everyone I know to listen!

I’m looking through your archives now for more advice on that topic!

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

Stay away from Adobe. It’s AMAZING but the monthly fee will kill you.

I use it right now because it’s what I know, but I’m considering a switch to Logic Pro or Pro Tools very soon.

Also, the equipment is secondary. When people recommend the Audio Technica ATR 2100 they mean business.

I have 2 of them and if my Sterling broke I wouldn’t even think of buying another one.
Long story short, monthly fee’s and expensive setups can easily wear down on your finances, buy the minimum QUALITY items you need and build on it.

Who doesn’t want a super short podcast about Donald Trump(ish) people? You don’t even have to think about it and you’d have already consumed the podcast!

Give it go and subscribe today!
