Q & A with Non Wels from The Joy Sandwich Podcast
When did you start podcasting?
I started podcasting in January 2014.
It started with my voracious podcasting listening habits and transformed into the thought, “hey, dear wife, we should do a podcast!”
And we did.
Joy Sandwich is, in our own silly way, a reminder to embrace joy in all facets of our lives. It’s a fun, creative hobby that makes us both pretty darn happy.
What’s your show about?
Joy Sandwich is about embracing joy.
We believe that joy can be found everywhere. It just needs to be discovered.
We created Joy Sandwich to wholeheartedly and giddily mine and cultivate and express that joy. If you like comic books, movies, science, animals, camping, or death-defying tales of tarantula battles, we cover it on Joy Sandwich.
If you dig things that make you think, wonder, question, smile, laugh, and kick up your legs in that feel good, ebullient, goofball sort of way, you’ll find joy in Joy Sandwich. Pickles optional!
What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.
We use a Behringer Xenyx Q802USB Mixer, Audio-Technica ATR–2100 USB Cardioid Dynamic microphones, Audacity, a Mac laptop, and Auphonic for post-production clean-up.
How have you promoted your podcast?
Our promotion for Joy Sandwich has really just been some basic Twitter and Facebook promotion, linking people over to our website and/or iTunes when our episode comes out.
Guesting on other podcasts has been a fun way to promote Joy Sandwich while supporting podcasts we enjoy.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
People listen to podcasts for a whole slew of reasons. It’s not just about entertainment. It can be about learning or passing time or a desire to listen in on a few silly folks chatting about their day.
