Q & A with Stu from The Angry Chimp Show

When did you start podcasting?

I first published in Feb 2014, but I have been recording bits and piece for it for the last year or so.

Why did you start podcasting?

I used to be a short film-maker, and had a large back-log of half-baked, inappropriate or unwieldy ideas that didn’t really fit the medium or what we were working on.

About five years ago I had the idea that an audio podcast might be the best way to cultivate some of these leftover ideas, but I ran out of steam pretty quickly. It took a few of my friends coming out with podcasts to re-invigorate my enthusiasm for the project.

What’s your show about?

It is a sketch show that has some absurdist tendencies. There are recurring segments, some semi recurring segments, and some that will not (and indeed should not) recur ever again.

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

Garageband and $100 dollar microphone. Not the most impressive or advanced set-up in the podcasting world I would suggest.

How have you promoted your podcast?

Twitter mainly. I had tried Twitter once a while before the show started and didn’t really get it so I didn’t bother. Starting the show made me want to have a better crack at it and I discovered I love it.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

More-so when I wanted to start about five years ago, I wish I knew that it was not as hard as I thought to put a show together and get it published. It seemed an huge, intimidating task.

A sketch show with some absurdist tendencies. You know you wanna know what that’s all about. Head on over to iTunes and give it a shot!

You can also connect with the Angry Chimp Sow via Twitter and Facebook.

If you happen to have bits and pieces of great works and ideas floating about in your brain, why not start a podcast? We’d love to help you out.
