Q & A with Jason Davis from The Nerd 411

When did you start podcasting?

I started out in podcasting around March 2013, it was the idea of deciding, researching, and acquiring the equipment to do the podcast. I have to thank Podcast Answer Man for his podcast and what he has posted on his website.

Why did you start podcasting?

Good question, as being a fan of everything nerd/geek i.e. Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and everything else in between, I thought you myself and was telling my friend, “I bet there are other likeminded individuals that want to know what I want to know about my favorite celebrity, or fan group, or perhaps conventions coming up.

What’s your show about?

Our show is about everything nerdy! We bring the latest news of the week about movies or rumors of upcoming movies, TV shows, the comic report and review of a couple of week prior comics. The Toy Box, where we review purchases

What’s your podcasting set-up? Hardware, software, CMS, etc.

Our podcast setup is pretty simple. We use a Behringer Xenyx X1622USB, a Roland R–05 coming from the mixer into it. Also have a Mac to play the Intro-Outro, interviews, and any other audio via Ambrosia’s Soundboard soundcart software.

The microphones we use are the Audio-Technica ATR 2100-USB, which we will upgrade to the Heil PR–40 later. Post production, we convert the wav into a mp3 and then its uploaded to Libsyn and posted.

How have you promoted your podcast?

We have promoted our podcast via all the social media sites, Facebook, Google+, Twitter etc. Also on our podcast, word of mouth, mobile apps, we go to conventions and pass out freebies with the info about the podcast.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

Wish I knew all the equipment needed to do a great podcast, and money as well. Someone that was good at doing voice over work for bumpers and Intro and Outro’s.

For this new year the Nerd 411 will be broadcasting live! So how about it? Time to subscribe don’t you think?
