Q & A with Travis Jenkins from The Entrepreneur’s Radio Show

When did you start podcasting?

We started in June of 2012.

Why did you start podcasting?

I felt that small business owners were not getting an accurate picture of what it takes to become (or remain) successful in today’s new economy.

I feel that many of the critical elements to success for entrepreneurs are left out. This is mostly due to an alarming number of people teaching tactics and strategies that they don’t use themselves.

This leads to failure for business owners that are already overwhelmed and struggling.

What’s your show about?

The Entrepreneurs Radio Show helps entrepreneurs grow their business through proven methods and experts that live what they teach.

What’s your podcasting set-up?

  • Skype to connect with the Guest
  • Roland R–05 Digital Recorder
  • Heil PR–40 Microphone
  • Heil PRSM-B Shock Mount- To hold the Mic
  • BSW RE320POP Fine Mesh Metal Screen Pop Filter
  • Heil PL2T Heady Duty Mic Boom Arm w/ C-Clamp-to maneuver the Mic
  • Mackie 1402-VLZ3 Mixer for blending the sound
  • Sony MDR–7506 Large Diaphragm Foldable Headphones
  • Audacity to edit

How have you promoted your podcast?

We’ve used all organic methods through social media, however we are currently in the process of setting up marketing channels in LinkedIn and Facebook.

We feel that our podcast is now at the level that we’re ready to become aggressive with promotion and growth.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

I wish I had been more strategic about the naming of the show as well as other initial set up tasks.

We have just rebranded the show, so that it is more clear who the podcast is talking to. I should have joined a mastermind for podcasting (and taken some training for podcasting) before starting so that we could have started out on the right foot.

This would have eliminated many of the mistakes and shortend the learning curve. I highly recommend Cliff Ravenscraft’s podcast mastermind and A to Z Podcasting course.
